In their own unique way, each of them celebrates their postpartum body and inspires others to do the same. For myself, I know it has been a very hard road to get to the place of self-acceptance that I am at. It is still a struggle, sometimes a daily one. Despite our struggles, we are creating a new way of thinking about postnatal health. One that is focused on the whole mother, not just her physical appearance.
I asked each of them to share why, as a Mum, their health is important to them. Why they are proud of their body. Why they love to move their bodies.
I hope you find the inspiration in this short clip to reflect on why your health and well-being is important to you. And what are you doing to support yourself physically and emotionally.
I hope this video prompts you to list a few of the reasons why you are proud of your body. So what if you have stretch marks, saggy boobs, scars or your waist is gone. What are you proud of? You grew a human, you had the strength and love to be able to grow a life inside of you. Celebrate that! Celebrate it daily!
After watching take a moment to acknowledge how much motherhood has changed you.
Pregnancy and motherhood are never easy. They challenge us daily to be better people. To be more patient. To give more of ourselves. To be stronger. To have less sleep than we have ever had in our lives and to simultaneously care about more. Acknowledge how much you have grown as a person. And then maybe see that the physical changes are just a tiny part of that growth.
I would love to hear from you!
